Working Together

About Christine

At heart, I am a documentary photographer with a strong career in facilitating ‘Arts for Social Change’ projects. I love traveling and photographing people as they are in their natural surroundings. The passion behind my photography comes from the inspiration and challenge of expressing a person’s true personality in a single image. I have a certain affection for film photography and enjoy printing archival fibre base prints in my darkroom.

Since 1996 I have been represented by the Lonsdale Gallery in Toronto, Canada. In 2003 and 2011, the Canadian Government commissioned me to create a photo library consisting of 120+ images, varying from contemporary to traditional ways of life in First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities. Some of my most notable exhibitions are ‘EMPATHY Through Our Eyes’, at the Ontario Science Centre in 2019; ‘Witnessed’ (Chief Beau Dick Potlatch) at Gallery 1515 during the Capture Festival in 2018; and ‘WonderLAND’ at Little Mountain Gallery during the Capture Festival in 2017. September 2022 ten photographs from the documentation of Chief Beau Dick’s Potlatch became part of a permanent exhibit at the Humboldt Forum Ethnological Museum in Berlin, Germany.

I am honoured to be a recipient of the John Hobday Award in Arts Management through the Canada Council of the Arts, and an Alumni Award from OCAD University in 2015. In 2018 I completed a Master of Education, Arts for Social Change degree at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.
