WonderLAND
WonderLAND is a photography project that reflects the effects of climate change in the Arctic and Small Island Developing States (Alaska, Greenland, Norway, Nunavut, Russia, and the Island states of Fiji, Tuvalu, Samoa, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Barbuda and Seychelles). These geographically distant societies share characteristics of vulnerability and resilience and are amongst the first to feel the effects of climate change.
WonderLAND illustrates the ethical dimension of climate change, helping to bring attention to the personal impacts presently taking place around the world. It shows that the people of these regions are not helpless victims of climate change and that they have a profound sense of place and a strong desire to see their cultures and communities survive and thrive.
Change is inevitable. As a result of this five-year journey, I believe very strongly that the solutions will come from the people living on the land, particularly the indigenous people. They know that land, the water, weather and animals like no other. What they know and witness is instrumental in understanding change and the possibilities for adaptation. WonderLAND takes a layered look into the similarities of these distant places and our possible futures.
